The Maliotis Cultural Center was honored to welcome Dr. Chrysostomos Stamoulis this past Thursday night, December 1, to present “Poetics of Theology: Theology and Art in Dialogue.” This presentation included his analysis, his poetry, and some of his music to which his poetry was added. The presentation was made possible through a collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Dr. Stamoulis is both a music composer and the Dean of the Theological School at the University of Thessaloniki. Pentiuc, Archbishop Demetrios Professor of Biblical Studies and Early Christianity and Professor of Old Testament and Semitic Languages at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, was the main speaker at two recent academic events. From October 19-21, the ROOTS International Old Testament Symposium, organized by the Orthodox School of Theology of Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj, Romania, held its annual conference via Zoom. DR. DOVA HEADLINES SICILY CONFERENCE
Dr. Stamatia Dova, Director of Classics and Greek Studies at Hellenic College, traveled to Sicily to deliver the opening keynote address at the “Homer in Sicily” conference sponsored by the Fonte Aretusa Organization. The conference was held October 5-8 at the Exedra Mediterranean Center on the island of Ortigia, the ancient heart of Syracuse (Siracusa), just off the Sicilian mainland. The goal of the conference was to bring together scholars from a variety of disciplines to discuss Homer’s epic vision of Sicily and to visit the archaeological traces of the mythic places and beings of the Odyssey. HOLY CROSS HOSTS CONFERENCE ON THE GOA AT 100
On October 6 and 7, 2022, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology hosted a conference with the theme "The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America at 100 Years." The conference was organized by V. Rev. Archimandrite Anton Vrame and Dr. James Skedros, both of whom also presented papers. FR. PATRICK O’ROURKE APPOINTED HCHC CHIEF OF STAFF
HCHC President George M. Cantonis has announced the appointment of Fr. Patrick O’Rourke as his Chief of Staff, effective August 1. In that role he will assist in overseeing and monitoring operations and helping to execute new presidential initiatives. On August 3, Fr. O’Rourke received the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Chairman of HCHC’s Board of Trustees, at the Archdiocese. Fr.
